MercyMe spent a day in the studio doing interviews and recording half a dozen live songs for this special iTunes release. The dozen songs are preceded by brief words of explanation (typically a minute or two). The feel is that of a radio show, with an interview interrupted by the live performances and the half-dozen studio tracks. Naturally the hits like "I Can Only Imagine" and "Word of God Speak" are here, and the collection concludes with a "live in studio" cover of Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down."
I enjoyed this project because the "live in studio" tracks were well-done and the introductions brought home the stories in a more intimate way than just hearing the songs on a recording or even in a concert setting.
