Brian "Head" Welch gained fame as a founding member and guitarist for Korn. The resulting wealth made it easy for him to slide into a life of addiction and debauchery, but God had other plans. Three years ago, Head was saved by the grace of God and his life took a 180 degree turn.

His testimony is recounted in a book, Save Me From Myself, which I reviewed last December. It makes a great companion to the CD, as it gives you all of the background story to what led a major rock star with a terrible meth addiction into the arms of Jesus Christ and a new life. Now his CD by the same name is ready for release September 9, offering more than an hour of hard-hitting music that seeks to reach the youth of the world with the message that God changes lives. Top musicians such as drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Devo) and bassist Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, King Crimson) bring their musical talents to the project.

The first video from Save Me From Myself is for the testimony song "Flush," about the insanity of his former life, flushing it away and starting a new life:

All the puke / I'm throwing up / in the toilet / is not a part of growing up / only spoils it / life is boring / get drunk / throw up / sleep all day

My favorite songs are probably "Adonai" and "Die Religion Die," but another standout is the epic nine-and-a-half minute "Washed By Blood," including orchestral strings early as Head sings,

I know you've tried / to satisfy your appetite / far too long / you wonder why you are alive / you've lived a lie far too long.

The music builds up until he growls out a message of love from Christ:

Washed by blood / deep inside / you're not a prisoner of your own life / washed by blood / a brand new start / it's time that I rebuild your heart / come fly away with me / you know I love you

Obviously, anyone who likes Korn's style of music will want to see what Head has been up to, but a lot of Christians who like hard music will enjoy Save Me From Myself.
