Since October immediately reminded me of Red and therefore of bands like Thousand Foot Krutch and Disciple. They feature plenty of hard-rocking music with some screamo mixed in. There are a couple of mellower moments, as in "Waiting" and "In This Moment," both power ballads. Producer Travis Wyrick (Disciple, Pillar, P.O.D.) leaves an obvious stamp on the project, and guitarist Marcos Curiel from P.O.D. apparently contributed both song-writing and production to a couple of the tracks.
The band's faith is evident in songs like "Disaster":
thank God for disaster / disaster and tears / thank God for my reasons / my reasons to fear / everytime that I've lost it all and death is calling me / I understand this is what saved my life again
and the hard rocking "Live To Die":
I know, I know, that I'm not perfect / but I promise you this / I would sacrifice all my dreams and my loves / for eternal life / God I swear that's enough / I live to / I live to die
This Is My Heart is an above-average label debut and while there's still room for improvement, the future looks very promising for this Florida-based quartet.
