I've seen The Afters live many times, most recently last night. The band played several well-known worship songs by others--including a wonderful rendition of "God Of This City"--showing that they're more interested in leading their audiences to worship than in just performing their own material. That mentality is evident on Light Up The Sky.
Standouts include "Say It Now," "Life Is Sweeter," the poignant "Runaway," and "Saving Grace." I was a little disappointed the first time I listened to this album because it was more pop than rock, but I've grown to appreciate the quality of the songs and the heart this band has for God. Light Up The Sky is sure to be recognized as one of the top albums of 2010.
