Ohio's Glass Harp has a rich history of jam band performances dating back four decades. I used to say that the Strings Attached double CD from a show in Youngstown was their definitive recording, but the just-released Live at Beachland Ballroom project takes the top spot. Playing in Cleveland two years ago, Glass Harp must have been inspired by headlining a benefit for Roots of American Music, an organization dedicated to the preservation and performance of traditional American music in our schools.

From the opening nine-minute version of "Children's Fantasy" off of their 1970 self-titled debut, to the closing "Can You See Me" from the same album, Live at Beachland Ballroom is a tour de force of improvisation nestled within comfortably familiar frameworks. We recognize the songs, but bursts of creativity take most of them to musical destinations we haven't visited before. The Beachland Jam provides almost 16 minutes of musical delight running the gamut of Phil's guitar styles, underscored throughout the evening by Daniel Pecchio's strong bass lines and John Sferra's powerful drumming.

Pecchio claimed, "This...is finally 'us'" and I'd have to agree. Get your copy today and settle back for more than an hour of pre-Thanksgiving musical feasting!
