WOW Hits 2005
2004 EMI-CMG, Word Entertainment, and Provident Mu

Reviewed 2004-10-09

The WOW Hits series has proved to be very popular--that's no surprise, considering how many true hits are packaged in each set. The 2005 edition offers great variety, with well over two hours of music from pop artists like FFH and Stacie Orrico, to worship stalwarts David Crowder Band and Casting Crowns, to rockers Kutless and Third Day, to newcomers Mute Math (former Earthsuit members). The two CDs are really a great assortment, making it easy for listeners to figure out which artists they enjoy as they decide what CDs to get. Of course, the 31-song double disc set can be enjoyed for its own sake as well, with over two dozen songs from the top artists in Christian music, plus bonus songs from brand new groups such as Day of Fire, featuring vocalist Josh Brown, who was formerly with Full Devil Jacket. While living the stereotypical hard-rocking lifestyle, Brown overdosed on heroin. God transformed his life while he was in rehab, and now he wants to spread the message of salvation. Here's the complete track list:

Purple Disc: MercyMe, Here With Me; Steven Curtis Chapman, All Things New; Casting Crowns, Who Am I; newsboys, You Are My King (Amazing Love); Matthew West, More; Selah, You Raise Me Up; Mark Schultz, Letters From War; Jaci Velasquez, Unspoken; Rachael Lampa, When I Fall; FFH, Ready To Fly; Bebo Norman, Disappear; Avalon, You Were There; Nicole C. Mullen, Everyday People; Caedmon's Call, There's Only One (Holy One); Chris Rice, Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus); Darlene Zschech, Pray; Shawn McDonald, Gravity.

Silver Disc: Jeremy Camp, Right Here; Third Day, I Believe; Stacie Orrico, More To Life; tobyMac, Gone; Kutless, Sea Of Faces; Tree 63, Blessed Be Your Name; BarlowGirl, Never Alone; Bethany Dillon, All I Need; Building 429, Glory Defined; Jars of Clay, Show You Love; David Crowder Band, Open Skies; Todd Agnew, Grace Like Rain; ZOEgirl, Beautiful Name; Audio Adrenaline, Leaving 99; Nate Sallie, Whatever It Takes; Day of Fire, Cornerstone; Mute Math, Control.

WOW Hits 2005 would be a great Christmas present for anyone you know who's just starting to explore Christian music.
