Matt Redman is best-known as the composer of modern worship classics likeWhen The Music Fades (The Heart Of Worship) and How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place (Better Is One Day). On Facedown, Redman offers up over an hour of music with 11 new songs and a couple of spontaneous bonus tracks. The project was recorded live at a three-day songwriters' conference organized by Redman, with more than 350 songwriters present and joining in the worship. That makes the CD somewhat reminiscent of the Passion projects, as Redman is joined by John Ellis, frontman/guitarist for South Africa's Tree63, as well as by Nathan and Christy Nockels and others. Labelmate Chris Tomlin joins in on the anthemic Worthy, You Are Worthy.

"When we face up to the glory of God, we soon find ourselves facedown in worship. To worship facedown is the ultimate outward sign of inner reverence," says Redman. His songwriting takes listeners to that state of worship as we join with him.

Facedown will appeal to fans of Matt Redman, Passion, and guitar-based modern worship. Redman's philosophy shines through on the record: "Sing first with an eye towards God - let every melody and word be an inspired heartfelt response to Him. But sing also with the church in mind - crafting that inspiration in a way that might help others give voice to their worship of Jesus."
