Paul Colman Trio, the 2003 Dove Award winners for New Artist of the Year, returns with their second record on Essential.One reprises the catchy pop-rock sound of New Map of the World, rocking at times but remaining easy on the ears without drifting into a syrupy sound. The Aussie band excels in a live setting, and One was deliberately written with plenty of catchy sing-along choruses.
One focuses on reconciliation, a plea for Christians to be one under the Son of God. Songs like Pray, One, and One Generation emphasize the need for unity. My favorite is Solution, a sure hit for Christian radio:
Do you wanna be a part of the solution? / Do you wanna hey hey hey? / 2000 years ago the greatest radical / Walked the earth and said we are forgiven souls / Have we forgotten Him and made religion king? / Love and grace is what we should be offering
One will appeal to fans of PC3 and anyone else who appreciates energetic light rock songs with a quality Christian message.
