The X Series of Christian compilations now has a Worship division. The X Worship 2006 CD has a strong blend of big name rockers like Switchfoot, Thousand Foot Krutch, Kutless, Sanctus Real, Delirious?, Jeremy Camp and Relient K, along with newer lesser known artists like Dizmas, Edison Glass, The Showdown and Showbread (featuring Reese from Roper, Brave Saint Saturn and Five Iron Frenzy).

The benefit of the newer artists is that the songs are newer as well. My Glorious is a great Delirious? song, but I heard a high school worship band cover it five years ago. Spirit by Switchfoot isn't as well known, but it dates back to 1999. Then again, this is a great way to bring some of those older songs back into the spotlight. If I had to pick a favorite track, it would probably be TFK's Breathe You In, but there are plenty of other good songs. Underoath's contribution has a little hardcore flavor, but there's a lot more growling on The Showdown's Laid to Rest, a track that doesn't really fit the musical style of the rest of the CD. However, I'm sure hardcore fans will appreciate it's inclusion.

X Worship 2006 is a nice collection of classic songs and new worshipful tunes from bands you wouldn't find on a typical worship compilation.
