Big Daddy Weave, featuring singer/songwriter Mike Weaver, is making a big splash in the Christian music pool. Take acoustic-flavored worship, throw in some lead guitar and saxophone, and you've got the catchy sound of Big Daddy Weave.One and Only is one of those rare records that's popular with everyone in my house, from mellow mom to gray-haired headbanger dad, from teenaged daughters to third-grade twins. In fact, I would have reviewed it sooner, but my kids kept stealing the CD.
BDW offers up a clean sound, with simple but sincere lyrics, many of them derived from Scripture. For example, Sacrifice offers up this prayer:
Jesus, Master, Savior, Friend / Your mercy seems to have no end / And though all I have to bring is sin / I come to praise You
Their music gives the impression that hanging out with the band would involve lots of good, clean fun. One and Only is for fans of Satellite Soul, Caedmon's Call, Daily Planet and Dave Matthews.
