Hooks, melodies and Brit-pop rock flavoring come together in the delicious Canadian stew known as Red Umbrella. Hailing from Parry Sound, Ontario--home of hockey legend Bobby Orr--this quartet beat their hockey sticks into guitars and successfully invaded the United States.

A joint 7 Spin/Sony release, Wishing For Boardwalk has drawn comparisions to The Killers, U2 and the Beatles. I was reminded at times of The Call, but no matter who the influences are, you're sure to be bobbing your head to some great tunes. However, Red Umbrella doesn't just parrot the standard pop rock sound. They offer up a nice variety of songs with lyrics like Already Won:
Here's to the courage of a perfect man / Here's to the bride that one day holds His hand...We've already won / We've already won / Lay down your good intentions / He's already won
Wishing For Boardwalk hasn't left my daughter Erika's CD player since she got it, probably because her CD player refuses to eject Red Umbrella (apparently she trained it to like Canadians by playing Manic Drive, Hawk Nelson and TFK), but she still enjoys listening to it repeatedly. At some point we'll probably have to get her player fixed, but in the meantime, join her and give this melodic foursome a listen. You won't regret it!
