The trio known as Write This Down offers an interesting combination of post-hardcore and pop punk flavoring. The lyrics generally are not overtly Christian, although "Center of Attention" includes the line "Sweet Jesus, carry me." Still, the band's faith comes through clearly with Bibical and hymn allusions like the line "There's no other name by which I'm saved" in the opening track, "Alarm The Alarm," along with mentions of sin and redemption in many of the songs. "Kings and Councilors" includes a shout out to an old hymn as Johnny Collier screams, "What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood!"

The biggest drawback is that the album is quite short, checking in at just over 34 minutes in an era when 40 minutes or more is almost expected. Then again, their lyrics are clever enough to require more thought than most bands that breeze through a longer project.

Write This Down reminded me of Capital Lights quite often, with the addition of some heavier moments. I'll definitely be watching this band to see what they produce in the future. Fans of bands like Relient K, Emery, The Classic Crime and the aforementioned Capital Lights should enjoy this album. Others should still enjoy the cool cover.
