K. P. Westmoreland is a dynamic youth speaker currently on the Awakening Tour with rockers Jonah33 and Stricken. I met him before a concert last week, and was impressed by his passionate challenge to the audience during the show.

The Qwest is Westmoreland's brief book targeting youth, although applicable to adults. Westmoreland seeks to inspire readers to join the adventure of following Christ--not merely trusting in Jesus for salvation and then drifting through life, but actively pursuing the Kingdom. While he discusses his transformation from a life of drugs, sex and rebellion to a committed life of service, his primary focus is the knowledge of Jesus through Bible study and prayer, through the church, and through meditation on God's Word. Any believer would benefit by following the exhortations in The Quest. Musicians like Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline, John Cooper of Skillet and Jeremy Camp have seen that truth and endorsed the book.

The Quest concludes with Jeremiah 29:11 and its encouragement:
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
In context, the passage addresses the Jewish people in captivity in Babylon, but I suppose it can be applied to Christians. Westmoreland's premise is sound--if God is running our life, it will be exciting and meaningful with a future worth anticipating.
