Violet Dawn: Kanner Lake Series Book 1
by Brandilyn Collins
Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2006, 316 pp., $12.99 softcover.

Paige Williams is having a tough time getting settled in her new hometown in Idaho, and finding a body in her hot tub won't help matters. The young woman is trying to leave her past behind, but it's hard to stay out of the spotlight when violent death strikes in a small town where no secret is safe.

In Violet Dawn, bestselling author Brandilyn Collins weaves a compelling tale involving rejection, acceptance, money, murder and mystery. There's even a character named Rachel Brandt (since this is fiction, I'm sure we're not related). Collins creates sympathetic characters, and keeps the action moving. A Christian perspective shines through without being forced or overbearing.

Violet Dawn was a great read, and I'm definitely looking forward to Coral Moon, the next book in the series.
